Week 2

We made it through week 1 with great results so far. I have lost 10lbs and so has Bill. Cory lost so much weight that he has began Phase II of the diet and left the Fat Shredder program behind. Last night was chest, back, and abs again. It was much better the second time as we knew what to expect from the workout. I am hoping the same comes tonight with the cardio blasting plyometrics workout.

We have learned how to use the portion approach for our diet plan and are starting to get more creative with our meals. Salad is getting really, really old. Last night Cory and I cooked a shrimp stir-fry with whole wheat pasta. It was very tasty and felt like a "real meal". Bill made something similar with turkey meatballs, tomato sauce, and pasta.

Honestly though, my body is still pretty sore this week but I am going to continue to BRING IT!

YOGA!-------

We thought we might have a light night because our routine for the evening was Yoga. Boy were we WRONG! The Yoga program has been the most challenging thus far. This program is NOT for beginners and we were only able to complete 30 minutes of the 1 hour and 30 minute video. With that said, we got a great workout in and the sweat was pouring! Next week we will try to go a little further. Also, our muscles felt a lot better because of the stretching and I am not near as sore today. Tonight is lower body.

Oh yeah, by the way, I am down another pound this morning. So far I have lost about a pound per day! We are still bringing it!!

Day 3!

We have survived to day 3 and we are all making progress. Due to the phase 1 diet, Cory has already lost 9lbs, I have lost 2, and I am sure Bill has lost several as well. The diet with this workout program seems complicated on the onset but is actually rather simple. The first phase is called the "Fat Shredder" and it concentrates on proteins, dairy, and vegetables while maintaining a lower fat lifestyle. The MAJOR drawback to this phase is the lack of carbs!!! You are only allowed one carb serving per day. I am a carb lover so this has been the most difficult aspect of the program. The good news is, we get to change our diet..........in 3 more weeks...

Our workout for day 3 was shoulder and arms. Again, very challenging and I think my body is officially sore....ALL over! Day 1, 3, and 5 are extra special because not only do you get your regular workout but also a sadistic program called Ab Ripper. The ripper part is right and we all barely made it through. But as tired as we were, we BROUGHT IT!

Plyometrics!!

OUCH! What a great workout though. You certainly can burn a lot of calories doing the plyometrics. This will be another one of those things that I will have to learn form and I will get better at. Good news.....day 2 and I am already down 1.5lbs! Looking forward to the rest of the week.

P90X Workout 1

Well, I have completed the first workout DVD's for P90X. It was chest and back.......and boy do I feel like I am missing both this morning!!! Oh and let's not forget the Ab Ripper......These workouts are going to be intense....NO DOUBT. However, I am excited that I am sore this morning because I know that I did something. I also know that it will get easier over time. I am still looking to bring it! Both Bill and Cory did an excellent job last night and I am eager to hear how they feel this morning. Here we go.....into day 2 of P90X...tonight is plyometrics!!

So it begins!!

Here we go! Day 1 of Beach Body's P90X Extreme program! Two friends of mine, Bill and Cory, are beginning with me today as well and I wish us all luck. A little about me, I am 29 and live in Canton, GA. I have been active most of my life but have battled weight issues for years. At the young age of 11 I was already in the Weight Watchers program. The program was successful but hard to maintain. By the time I was in 8th grade, I was 6.1 and weighed 218lbs. I knew I was going to begin high school the following year and did not want to enter into it as the "Brown Cow".

So, I decided that most runners were thin therefore,....I just started running. I ran in my neighborhood for awhile and then my parents decided to invest in a treadmill for me. I lost a lot of weight, in fact 63 pounds. I started my freshman year of high school weighing 155 pounds and had a 32 waist (a size I had not seen since the age of 8..or maybe ever) I continued with running trough high school by joining Track and Cross Country.........Here comes college!!!

College was fun and challenging at the same time. I moved out of my parents house, where my mother had always cooked balanced meals for me. I began to eat the college diet and not run very often. Over a 3 year period I gained back all of my original weight....plus some. I could not believe it. This weight gain continued after my college experience to peak at a whooping 265 pounds in 2006. I needed to start the track back to health! I was depressed and had a really poor self image.

In February of 2006 I joined Gold's Gym and hired a personal trainer for 3 days a week. Wow, I was in bad shape. After the first week I thought I was going to die from muscle soreness! Then it got better and the weight started to fall off and I was gaining muscle at the same time. After training at Golds from 2006-2008 I got my height and weight in line (6.1, 196 pounds) and lowered my body fat percentage from 32%-21%. Not to shabby. Since then I have gone up and down a bit..however, not much and still continue to run, workout, and watch my diet. I was looking for a way to take it to the next level and that is how I came across the P90X program. I decided to buy the program and give it a try because of the raving reviews. I will post photos and such as I get going. I will also let you know how my friends Bill and Cory are doing.

Program Start

6.1
209 pounds
23% Body Fat

As the program says.....I am ready to bring it!
